Shinelle Whitaker is founder and Executive Director of Miss
Model Me Inc., a community driven nonprofit dedicated to inspiring female youth to embrace their awesomeness through activities related to fashion, photography/picture taking and modeling.
Shinelle was born and grew up in the city of Norfolk, located in Hampton Roads Virginia. While in high school, she pushed passed social challenges while actively participating on the school’s step team and JROTC and was also briefly a part of the female's
basketball team. After her post high school plan to join the military was derailed by continued challenges with her weight, Shinelle began academic preparations to become a nurse. She soon became licensed as a Registered Nurse and to date, has been practicing nursing for more than 18 years.
After an amazing transformation both physically, emotionally and especially spiritually, Shinelle became a free-lance Plus Sized Model. She started her modeling career as a member of Kushions Modeling Team based near Atlanta, Georgia and as of today, Shinelle is currently a 2-time published model. Shinelle is a strong believer of networking and so she continues to build her portfolio and connections with amazing photographers and fellow models along the east coast.
During her transformation years, Shinelle accessed invaluable experiences and knowledge and she wants to see more of female youth exposed to the same opportunity. With her own personal encounter with life’s unfortunate circumstances and understanding the importance of self-love, it is her desire to take part and strive for a change
After years of prayer and believing that through her obedience God would reveal his plan for her life, her purpose was uncovered and Miss Model Me Inc. was birthed. In 2018, the organization was founded and became a fully formed 501(C)(3) with great support from her community, family and friends.
